Powhatan offers a variety of festivals and events throughout the year to choose from.  Here are a few to choose from: 

Annual Powhatan Christmas Parade

occurs on the second Saturday of December. Beginning at Powhatan Elementary School, the parade features a procession of floats, fire engines, antique cars, horses and representation from just about every organization in Powhatan. The parade ends with Santa at the Courthouse Square lawn.

Annual Relay for Life

is held on the first Friday night in June to raise money for the American Cancer Society. This event starts at 7 pm and continues through the night at Powhatan Junior High School. 804-598-3074. 

Antique Power Show

is sponsored by the Coalition of Powhatan Churches. The annual Antique Power Show is held on the last Saturday and Sunday of April at Yorkshire Place off of Academy Road. It showcases some of the finest antique cars, tractors and steam and gas engines in Virginia. One of the main events is an antique tractor pull. Other attractions include a silent auction, live entertainment, craft and yard sale vendors and great food. More Info...

Holly Days Bazaar

is an annual event held on the Saturday and Sunday before Thanksgiving at Powhatan Elementary School. The bazaar occurs just in time for Christmas and features arts, crafts, food and various other wares from area vendors. 804-598-6969. 

James River Batteau Festival

is held every year beginning on the weekend of Fathers Day in June. People from all over set out on a week long adventure on the James River. The batteau were used to transport goods and people along the river from the 1700's up until the early 1900's. the journey begins in Lynchburg and ends some 120 miles down river at our very own Maiden's Landing in Powhatan. More Info...

Powhatan Celebration of the Horse,

Farm Bureau and Powhatan Cooperative Extension are proud to be a part of this collaborative project with the Powhatan 4-H and FFA youth organizations. In addition to being a 4-H Qualifying horse show, the horse show portion of the event is open to adult participants too. This event was born out of the need to raise funds to support the 4-H and FFA youth organizations and their many activities, educational opportunities and competitions throughout the year. There was also a strong desire to bring awareness to the large equine community in Powhatan County. In its third year, the event has been expanded to include livestock and exhibits highlighting the overall impact of agriculture in the county.  More info...

Powhatan County Fair, 

founded in 1919, the Powhatan Fairgrounds are a privately operated long-standing community institution.  The fairgrounds host many events throughout the year as well as an annual County Fair in May. More Info...

Powhatan's Festival of the Grape

is an annual event occurring on the last Saturday in October. Virginia wineries are invited to the historic Powhatan Courthouse Square lawn to allow the public to sample the fruits of their labor. Area artisans and food vendors are also invited to sell their wares. People near and far enjoy a day of wine tasting, live entertainment, shopping and food. The festival is one of the finest and fastest growing in Virginia. More Info...

Powhatan's Festival of Fiber

is held every April to celebrate and to share appreciation of the many fiber animals, fiber farmers and fiber artisans of the county and surrounding region. Vendors, Delicious Food, Fiber Animals, Demonstrations, Hands-On Fiber Crafts, Door Prizes and MORE! More Info...

The Free Clinic of Powhatan Bike Tour

Come kick off the Spring cycling season in beautiful Powhatan County, Virginia. Powhatan will host the Annual Free Clinic of Powhatan Bike Tour.

The Free Clinic of Powhatan Bike Tour has three rides designed to appeal to cyclists of all abilities. The rides include a 100 mile century, a 100 Km (62 mile) metric century and a 50 Km (35 mile) half metric century. All three bike tours are on gently rolling, country roads with scenic views. Additionally, fully stocked rest stops will be provided at unique historic sites along the routes. More Info...

takes place on the fourth Wednesday of April at the rescue squad building in the Village. More Info...

Village Vibe Concert Series

is a live music series hosted by the Powhatan Chamber of Commerce that runs from April to August every year at the Powhatan Rescue Squad grounds. More Info...

is a beer festival highlighting Virginia Micro-brew beer to support local charities that is held every year in May on the historic Malvern Farm. More Info...
